As everyone knows the Republicans went to the White House yesterday to deliver their ultimatum to the President. That ultimatum was unconditional surrender on the Paul “Kill the elderly” Ryan’s (R-Wi) budget. Now I find during My daily reading that not only are the Republicans demanding that the President sanction the Killing of our elderly, disabled, and poor but Rep. David “Show Me the Money” Camp is demanding even more tax reductions which would increase the debt even more than the $5 trillion planed by Rep. Paul “Kill the Elderly” Ryan. Of course that increase in the debt driven by further tax reductions would immediately generate a call for even further cuts in services to the public from the Republicans.
Rep. David “Show Me the Money” Camp has called for “comprehensive tax reform” but as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee has yet to hold a single hearing on closing a single loophole, eliminating a single subside, or even as they demand any reduction in the statutory tax rates of the top 1%. I will point out that the only rates they have called for reducing are those at the top.
Now I was once told or read some were that the definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Well that is exactly what Rep. David “Show Me the Money” Camp, Rep. Paul “Kill the Elderly” Ryan, Rep. Charlie “The Cockroach” Dent and the entire Republican House are doing. They are advancing the same old cut taxes on the top, tax the poor more (expanding the tax base) policies that have proven over and over again to do nothing but increase the debt. Even that great Republican Hero Ronald Reagan realized that special exclusions in the tax code had to be eliminated. Provisions in the tax code that allowed the wealthy to escape taxes was not good for the country and must be eliminated. Sense the 1986 tax reform of Ronald Reagan the Republicans have been purposely increasing loopholes and exclusions that benefit the few at the expense of the many. This was at it’s height in 2001 and 2003 with the “Bush Tax cuts” The Republicans managed single handily to take us from balanced/surplus budgets with reductions in the national debt to deficit budgets and the current situation. While Republicans seek to spread the blame the facts are the facts the current situations is a complete and total creation of the Republicans.
It is time for the Republicans to Raise the Debt limit which is a creation of the Republicans and then come to the table with real legislation and policies. This extortion on the part of Republicans to get things through Congress that could never stand on the merits is nothing more than another form of theocracy and will eventually cause the Republicans to become as prevalent as the Do Do bird, perhaps that would be the best thing for the country.
