While doing My daily reading and research I came across this twitter post ” Numbers To Know
$544,500: If you’re 24, what you’ll need to save for health insurance under #GOP plan ending Medicare http://go.usa.gov/jdV” and followed the link were I came across this headline “GOP Plan to End Medicare: Pray for your 401(k), win the lottery, or go without health coverage” I read the article and then being the detailed orientated person that I am I when to the cited source where I found this:”Representative Ryan’s $30 Trillion Medicare Waste Tax ” where again I down loaded the PDF formatted report(http://www.cepr.net/documents/publications/ryan-waste-2011-04.pdf) and again started reading. This finally lead Me to the analysis of the Ryan plan provided by the CBO you can find that analysis here: http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/121xx/doc12128/04-05-Ryan_Letter.pdf .
Now I found several things very interesting in this document that Rep. Ryan (R-Wi) and My congressman Rep. Charlie “The Cockroach” Dent (R-Pa) did not share with the public. I will point out the things I consider important but encourage everyone to follow the links and form their own opinions, Not only of the plan but the individuals involved.
First the CBO analysis was performed based on assumptions provided by Rep. Ryan’s staff to CBO so no bias on the part of CBO can be claimed by Rep. Ryan. So lets start:
This straight from the above cited document “At the request of the Chairman of the House Budget Committee, Congressman Paul
Ryan, CBO has analyzed a proposal that would substantially change federal payment
under the Medicare and Medicaid programs, eliminate the subsidies to be provided
through new insurance exchanges under last year’s major health care legislation,” The document further states “CBO has conducted a long-term analysis of the major provisions of the proposal as described by the Chairman’s staff.” So Rep. Ryan defined the terms of the analysis. That means no crying Rep. Ryan.
Moving on this document states in no uncertain terms that Rep. Ryan, Rep. Charlie “The Cockroach” Dent and the other 239 Republicans who voted for the Ryan plan voted to screw the elderly, disabled and the poor of this country solely for the benefit of the top 1%. On to some specific finding in the analyses. The CBO states “The projected reductions in deficits and debt under the proposal depend on implementing substantial reductions in spending, relative to GDP, through a number of policies that might be difficult to sustain over a long period of time. Those policies would involve Medicare, Medicaid, and the broad category of other mandatory and discretionary spending (excluding that for Social Security).” In other words Medicare and Medicaid are to take the bulk of the cuts along with other unspecified cuts that may or may not ever be achieved, i.e. the closing of tax loopholes (never going to happen see the pledge Rep. Ryan made to Grover Norquest). Lets go on.
Next the CBO report states:”Under the proposal, the gradually increasing number of Medicare beneficiaries participating in the new premium support program would bear a much larger share of their health care costs than they would under the traditional program.” Bottom line the elderly will have to pay more for their health care weather the can afford it or not. Instead of the cost of a single bureaucracy the system will have to pay the cost of hundreds of bureaucracies along with bonuses and profits. Lets go on, what else did the CBO Report state? The report further states”That greater burden would require them to reduce their use of health care services, spend less on other goods and services, or save more in advance of retirement than they would under current law. At the same time, the proposal analyzed by CBO would leave in place provisions restraining payments to many providers under the traditional Medicare program.” In other words the elderly will be forced to choose between seeing a doctor, getting the medicine they need, eating, paying their rent etc. This is a pro death policy. But that may be just what Rep. Ryan has in mind let the old, disabled and poor die and relieve society of the burden they bring after all we have extracted their tax dollars and transferred them to the 1% who we represent it is now time for them to die.
I could go on and on with quotes from the CBO analyses but it is better if you read it along with the other sources cited and form your own opinion. As for this writer Rep. Ryan is contemptible and unfit to serve in any office in this country. That same opinion goes for his cohort Rep. Charlie “The Cockroach” Dent (R-Pa 15).
I look forward to their response and the comment of the readers.
