In the ethics investigation against Former Senator Ensign (R-Nv) it came to light that Senator Coburn may have engaged in illegal conduct and in fact may be subject to charges for at least two federal crimes. Now it comes to light that Senator Coburn may have been one of the two witnesses who were granted immunity for their testimony.
While I am the first to admit that I am not a lawyer, I like many others see no reason for a grant of immunity unless I have committed a crime. Several news organizations have repeatedly asked Senator Coburn’s office if in fact he was one of the beneficiaries of the two grants of immunity, and to date Senator Coburn and his office have failed to respond. This failure to disclose on the part of Senator Coburn suggests to Me that he was in fact one of the two witnesses who received a grant of immunity.
With such a grant Senator Coburn may not be subject to prosecution but also removes any doubt as to his willingness to violate the very laws he is responsible for enacting and subjecting the American people too. This grant of immunity also removes any doubt that the Senator is corrupt and unfit to serve in the office he now holds. It is time for Senator Coburn to come clean and if in fact he was a recipient of a grant of immunity it is also time for him to resign.
