Unemployed new target of the GOP

On May 5,2011 the Republicans introduced legislation that could allow states to take 31 billion out of the pockets of the unemployed and put it in the pockets of employers http://www.accountingtoday.com/news/Republican-Bill-Would-Change-State-Unemployment-Benefits-58288-1.html?  this at a time when jobs are not being created despite GOP promises.

The Republicans have been busy attempting to kill the health care reform, Medicare, Medicaid, Attacking women, and now attacking the Unemployed for having the audacity to be unemployed.

This bill like every other bill passed by the New Republican majority in the House carries a name that lies about the true effect and intent of the bill in this case the title of the bill is “The Jobs, Opportunity, Benefits, and Services Act”. This legislation provides no job opportunities and takes away benefits or has the potential to take away benefits.

The bill was introduced in the Senate by Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, and in the House by Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich., Human Resources Subcommittee Chairman Geoff Davis, R-Ky., and Human Resources Subcommittee member Rick Berg, R-N.D. As the article in Accounting Today states “They say the bill would curb rate hikes in unemployment taxes for employers”

I will not cover the entire article here. You should follow the link and read for yourselves how the Republicans are again attacking those who are down and out in this country all for the benefit of those on the top.
